Clifford Carroll, the 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Carroll on West Fourth Street, narrowly escaped drowning this morning.

The boy broke through the ice on Goose Creek and was precipitated into the icy water. He seized upon the edge of the ice as he went down, and held it until he was rescued by his mother, five minutes later.

Next Saturday will be 75-cent day in Sheridan. Local merchants are implementing a custom that has proved popular in a great many cities, in which the public is invited to come to town and take advantage of the bargains offered. More than a dozen local businesses are participating in the event.

R.C. Tarrant received a carload of Dodge cars today.
