Homesteads have been filed on more than 8,000 acres of land in Sheridan County over the last three days.
The most recent filings were this morning, when 14 homesteaders from four states filed for more than 4,300 acres. Most of the filings are for acreage in the Clearmont and Arvada districts.
Federal court convened at 9 o’clock this morning in Sheridan, then recessed until 2, when a land contest was taken up. This is the only case that will be heard. Two persons have been charged with selling liquor to the Indians, but their cases will be heard next month in Cheyenne.
O.N. Quick of Buffalo is in Sheridan today. Mr. Quick is the proprietor of the Occidental hotel in Buffalo.
