The city council in a meeting this afternoon consolidated the offices of the city clerk and water commissioner.
The change will become effective May 1. The city clerk will move his office into the water office and take charge of the work in both departments. The change will save $100 a month in salaries.
19-year-old Albert Johnson, an employee of the Burlington, was knocked unconscious and robbed yesterday around noon. The robbery happened within 200 feet of the depot. The young man was found by two section men about 15 or 20 minutes after the robbery, and they assisted him to his home. Police have thrown out a dragnet in an effort to apprehend the criminal.
Ora Darnell of Acme is home today from a business trip to Denver.
