A Sheridan barber who was working on city streets in lieu of paying a fine against him made a thrilling escape from his guard yesterday afternoon.
But he was recaptured by police late last night while fleeing from the city. The man was assessed $25 after being found guilty on a charge of drunkenness. He was unable to pay the fine, so was ordered to work on the streets under Police Captain John Smith’s work-if-you-want-to-eat plan.
A Bull tractor, which was purchased by “Doc” Spear, was unloaded in the Burlington yards this morning and taken to Spear’s Dutch Creek ranch. Purchase was through the local agent, C.J. Saberhagen.
Mr. and Mrs. L.I. Helsberg have returned home from a honeymoon trip to California.
