Now here’s Sheridan Media’s look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on July 17, 1915.

Miner Paul Bogzler was killed Friday afternoon in an explosion at the mine at Carneyville. He had set up a shot in the mine, then apparently went back to examine the fuse. He was last seen alive about noon Friday, and his body was found about 5 o’clock.

Nearly 200 people attended the housewarming given Friday night by Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Long. The event was to celebrate completion of their beautiful new bungalow on Mountain View ranch six miles from Ulm.

17-year-old Earl Hines caught a runaway team about 9 tonight after the horses, which belong to Sheridan dairyman C.P. Coleman, became frightened in front of the Ford garage. Hines, who was on horseback, pursued the team on Brundage Street from Main to the corner of Thurmond.
