The Monarch Coal company will spend $17,000 during the next 30 days in putting in a new screening system and making other improvements on the tipple at the Monarch mine. Work is part of a program to bring the mine up to a high state of efficiency.

Ranchester, the thriving town 16 miles north of Sheridan, has begun a program of civic improvements that within a few years will make the town one of the beauty spots of the county. Efforts started with installation of a modern water system a few months ago. Under direction of Town Clerk Dr. E.G. Condit, 200 Carolina poplars were planted along the curb lines of all of the town’s streets this spring.
