A Look Back in Time: Dec. 25, 1915

Someone planning an early Christmas joy ride stole an automobile from Main street in front of the Western Hotel about 1 o’clock this morning. However, the joy ride was of short duration, as the driver lost control of the car in front of the home of the Rev. L.W. Kingsley on West Works street. The vehicle shot across the curb through the yard and was stopped against the side of the house. The joy rider fled, leaving the car.

Prisoners in the county jail were treated today to a fine Christmas dinner prepared by Mrs. Mossberg, the sheriff’s wife. The menu included roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, apples and mince pie. After dinner, the prisoners enjoyed cigars presented by County Attorney R.G. Diefenderfer.
