A near conflagration occurred in the Kendrick block in Sheridan this morning when refuse in the waste paper basket in Dr. N.B. Newcomer’s office caught fire. The doctor was out at the time. When he returned, he found the basket entirely consumed, and the window shade in flames. The fire was put out before further damage resulted.
Deputy Sheriff U.A.C. Thomas went to Clearmont this afternoon to sell a horse which had been taken up as a stray.
Men employed by the city are cutting off the ends of the conduits that were installed for ornamental light posts along the curbs on Main street several years ago. The work is being done in order to eliminate the danger of people stumbling over the conduits and falling.
