A Look Back in Time: Dec. 30, 1916

December 30, 2016

The year 1916 was an exceedingly prosperous one for the coal mines of Sheridan county, according to George N. Akin, who’s the state mine inspector for the second district. He said the last three months of the year in particular set a new record for production and volume of business handled.

Nearly $390,000 in new building, repair and additions were undertaken in Sheridan during 1916, according to Building Inspector Zander. That is the largest total in recent years and more than three times as great at the total for 1915.

A very pleasant social evening was enjoyed at the Currie home in Ranchester tonight. A buffet luncheon was served after midnight, and dancing was indulged in until the wee hours of the morning.
