Sergeant Matthew Wayman, who has seen action for 33 months with the Canadian forces in France, spoke last night to a Chautauqua audience which set a record for Chautauqua attendance in Sheridan.

Steve Harper was in the city from Banner yesterday. T.S. Currie was in the city yesterday from Ranchester.

Sheridan received a great surprise today when a troop train of 14 cars, bearing 500 soldiers from Camp Lewis, Wash., passed through the city. Their coming was unannounced, but the news soon spread like wild fire, and when the soldiers returned to the depot, scores of persons and cars were there to give them a rousing departure.
