R.S. Whitehead, a contractor in Sheridan, was awarded the contract for construction of a 16-foot gravel road up Big Goose valley. The contract was awarded by the State Highway commission yesterday in Cheyenne.

George D. Underwood, an employee at Monarch Coal company, was killed instantly last night in an automobile accident on a steep hill between Monarch and Kooi. The accident was caused when the driver of the vehicle lost control near the top of the hill when she attempted to shift gears.

L.F. Johnston left last night for various points in South Dakota on business. He will be gone for several days.
