As a result of the covid pandemic, enrollment and headcount numbers at various colleges across the country have dropped, however at least one Wyoming campus has reported an increase in numbers.

The Sheridan College Johnson County campus reports that fall 2021 numbers are up anywhere from 52 to 81 percent, compared to each of the past 2 years.

More than half of the students at SCJC are served through Johnson County high schools, enrolled in concurrent programs, with the remainder of those enrolled in other programs, including the flagship Certified Nursing Assistant program.

College President Doctor Walter Tribley says he credits Vice President Wendy Smith and her new approach to reaching out to the Johnson County community.

“She is coordinating with the local community members, doing a very grassroots approach to bringing forward ideas for what we need to do there, trying to find local faculty first to teach those students, and finding out what will work there and apparently it’s working.”

The Sheridan College Johnson County Campus degree programs are health sciences, business, and general studies; while certificates can be earned for Emergency Medical Tech, Certified Nursing Assistant, substitute teaching, and high school equivalency.

Enrollment numbers are a duplicated count of students and are enrolled in more than one course, while headcount numbers are not duplicated, and students may or may not be enrolled in more than one course.

SCJC headcount numbers were 38 for fall 2019, 36 for fall 2020 and 58 for fall 2021.

Enrollment numbers were 16.6 for fall 2019, 15.1 for fall 2020, and 27.4 for fall 2021.
