Split Sentence Handed Down for Woman Charged with Felony DUI

Last year on August 29, Mira Loring was arrested and charged with Felony DUI- Causing Serious Bodily Injury for being the driver in a one-vehicle crash on US Highway 14 in Sheridan County. Loring rolled her vehicle, causing herself and two passengers to be ejected from the vehicle. One of the individuals was life flighted to a hospital in Billings, while another was taken to Sheridan Memorial Hospital. While being interviewed by a trooper with the Wyoming Highway Patrol at the scene of the crash, Loring admitted to driving the vehicle down the mountain after consuming alcohol. At Loring’s sentencing hearing Thursday, the woman who was life flighted to Billings addressed the Court by saying that she’s endured physical and emotional trauma that she will have to live with for the rest of her life, and that she has had multiple surgeries as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash. The woman who was first on scene of the crash, also made an emotional statement to the Court about how the horrific crash scene that she and her son witnessed has had a profound impact on their lives.

District Court Judge John Fenn accepted the terms of the plea agreement reached with the State and sentenced Loring to 4 to 6 years in prison, suspended in lieu of a split-sentence of 120 days in jail to be followed by three years of supervised probation. Loring was given credit for one day of time served and was ordered to pay $375 in various court costs and fees.
