The Sheridan City Council at their upcoming meeting Monday night will be considering an ordinance on first reading that amends the City’s current ordinance pertaining to signs, in particular political signs. City of Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger says the change to code was precipitated by a court ruling.

The proposed ordinance states that unpermitted temporary signs must be limited to eight square feet and cannot be located on public property. The sign must be located a minimum of seven feet from the back of the curb or two feet from the sidewalk, whichever is greater. The sign must also be removed from the owner’s property within 90 days after its installation. Examples of unpermitted temporary signs may include but are not limited to campaign signs, community signs, real estate signs, and construction signs. The Council will also be considering third and final reading of ordinance #2233, which deals with animals at large, aggressive animals and cruelty/neglect of animals. The Council will meet at 7 Monday night on the third floor of Sheridan City Hall in Council Chambers.
