Congresswoman Cheney on Debt Ceiling Deadline

Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney discussed the debt ceiling and reconciliation bill during a recent interview with Wyoming News Now. Representative Cheney was asked about the deadline to raise the debt ceiling, and what happens if lawmakers don’t meet or extend that deadline.

Cheney said the spending they are seeing is so significant and so huge, that it will most certainly have a negative impact on the economy.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has warned lawmakers that if the debt ceiling isn’t raised or suspended by October 18, the country will no longer be able to honor its debt and could risk the first ever U.S. default.
