In a release, the Sheridan Area Toys For Tots Coordinator Gary Small announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sheridan Toys For Tots campaign has had to drastically alter the way they will distribute toys to the parents of needy children, this Christmas season.

“Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, we can no longer have a one-day distribution, where parents are packed into our building to pick up toys for their children,” Small said. “Since we can no longer have a walk-in type distribution, we need parents to call our new phone number at 307-752-6008, and then schedule an appointment to come into our facility to select and pick up the toys.”

According to Small, only one parent per family unit can be allowed into the building at a time and children are not permitted in the building.

“On a positive note, we have expanded our distribution over a two-day period instead of one-day, to help parents with busy schedules. Parents can schedule their appointment on any of the three days,” Small said.

Distribution of toys will stretch over a two-day period: Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17 and 18, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

“Please, by appointment only. No walk-ins will be allowed,” Small said. “We certainly don’t want to do it this way, but it’s our duty to the community to keep people safe.”
