Since the beginning of the pandemic, Sheridan County has had 4,490 lab confirmed cases, with no new lab confirmed cases being reported in the last 24 hours.

One new probable case has been added in the last 24 hours to the total of 1,381 probable cases.

There are now 29 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Sheridan County, according to COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves.

Currently, there are three patients hospitalized in Sheridan County battling the virus. The county has experienced the deaths of 60 residents to the virus.

The Associated Press reports that a federal appeals court panel has lifted a nationwide ban against President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate for health workers, creating the potential for patchwork enforcement across the country.

The Dec. 15, decision by the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals keeps an injunction in place only for 14 states that sued in its circuit. A separate preliminary injunction pending before the St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals applies to 10 additional states.

The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid had previously said it would not enforce the vaccine rule while injunctions were in place.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention list Sheridan County’s level of community transmission as SUBSTANTIAL.
