Turkey Trot

January 6, 2022

This Thanksgiving tradition, started with the Powers family in Kendrick Park. We are so thankful for their energy, commitment and vision for this community event. 2014 started a new venture of the Turkey Trot being hosted by members of the community.

The Annual Turkey Trot and Fun Run has been a Sheridan, Wyoming staple for over three decades. Every Thanksgiving, Kendrick Park is filled with community members who have come to run or walk the perimeter of the park four times. Entry fees are either canned goods for the local food pantry or a small donation to the event’s charity of choice. Traditionally the race is not based on who wins. Instead participants guess what time they will need to complete the four lap trek and whoever is the closest wins a free turkey to enjoy! Oftentimes, the event attracts hundreds of locals looking to find something fun to do as a family on the holiday, while helping raise money for a good cause.
