Johnson County Commissioner Bill Novotny and State Representative Barry Crago are working on bills to bring before the Wyoming Legislature that will address issues and concerns over mineral company bankruptcies.
Novotny discussed the legislation as a recent guest on Public Pulse, explaining that the current bills will hopefully be the end changes to state law recommended by a special task force.
Novoyny said the state has done great things with mineral taxes for years, but this new legislation will ensure that counties and the state do receive their share of the tax revenue from mineral production companies.
Novotny said the legislation is “a clear, simple solution. If you’re not paying (the taxes), then you’re not producing until you start paying again.”
