United States Attorney for the District of Wyoming Bob Murray announced Wednesday that 44-year-old Phillip Aaron Dobbins of Cody was recently arrested on a charge of escape from custody. Dobbins appeared before Chief United States Magistrate Judge Kelly H. Rankin and pleaded not guilty to the charge. A trial has been scheduled for March 14 and Dobbins was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshals Service.
The indictment alleges that on or about October 5, 2021, Dobbins escaped from the custody of The Life House, a residential treatment center in Sheridan operated by Volunteers of America Northern Rockies. The treatment had been ordered by Judge Rankin through an order of detention pending trial issued on October 5, 2021 in connection with pending felony charges. Dobbins faces up to five years imprisonment, up to three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment. This crime is being investigated by the United States Marshals Service. Assistant United States Attorney Timothy J. Forwood is prosecuting the case.
