County Discusses Lake DeSmet Shoreline Regs Changes

January 20, 2022

Cheryl Benner, representing the Lake DeSmet Advisory Board, brought the proposed changes to the Lake DeSmet shoreline regulations before the Johnson County Commission during this week’s meeting.

Benner said the board voted at their January 12 meeting to bring the proposed changes before the commission for their review.

The changes, according to discussions, allow landowners adjacent to county-owned lands to make alterations to their property, with approval of the county commission.

There was also language added concerning easement tracts.

The commission will review the changes and will discuss them further at their February 1 meeting.

Legal notices will be published in the newspaper on February 8 and will also be on the county’s website.

Copies will be available at the Commission office and County Road & Bridge office.

The commission will have a public hearing on April 1 and will decide on adoption of the changes at that time.
