John Stopka, Sheridan airport manager, said that passengers can now book out of Sheridan to anywhere. “We offer from 2 to 3 flights per day, depending on the day,” Stopka said. “United has good connections in and out of Denver to both coasts. You can buy a ticket here in Sheridan to anywhere, you may have to change flights in Denver, but your luggage is checked straight through.” Sheridan airport offers early morning, mid-morning and mid- afternoon flights.
Stopka said that flying out of Sheridan is convenient. “A traveler doesn’t have to drive over bad roads to get to another airport. You don’t have to get up early and drive to Billings, or drive home from your trip when your already tired.”
Long-term parking at the airports can be expensive. “We have free parking here at the Sheridan airport.” Stopka said. “We want people to fly local and we keep our fares competitive.”
Each of the Sheridan flights is aboard a quiet, comfortable 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200. “The plans are all ADA compliant, and we can handle handicapped people on the planes,” Stopka said,
More people are taking advantage of flying out of Sheridan. In 2021, the Sheridan airport set a record of 23,661 enplanements.
The Malcom Wallop Terminal, named for former Sheridan County resident and US Senator Malcolm Wallop, serves all the passenger’s needs as they embark or deplane in Sheridan. In 2020 the terminal was expanded, and more updates are planned in 2022 and 2023.
