A sentencing hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for Dakota Studie for the charge of endangering children. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Sheridan Man Receives Suspended Sentence for Endangering Children
Studie was arrested on June 28, 2021 for being in possession of methamphetamine with minors present in the home. On October 14, a change of plea was filed with the Court and on November 18, Studie, pursuant to a plea agreement reached with the State, pleaded guilty to the charge at a hearing in District Court.
District Court Judge William Edelman at Thursday’s hearing, accepted the terms of the plea deal and sentenced Studie to 2 to 3 years in prison, suspended in lieu of two years of supervised probation. Studie received 16 days of credit for time served and was ordered to pay $565 in various court costs and $500 in attorney fees. On January 11, 30-year-old Samantha Wade, the co-defendant in the case, was also sentenced to 2 to 3 years in prison, suspended in lieu of two years of supervised probation.
