WY Highway Patrol Releases 2021 Incident Report

Last year was a busy one for the Wyoming Highway Patrol and they were understaffed on top of that.

In a public report, the Patrol says troopers stopped more than 104,000 vehicles in 2021.

About 85,000 of those involved speeding tickets or warnings.

There were more than 4,700 crashes investigated and 720 impaired drivers were stopped and arrested.

As far as controlled substances go, the patrol seized more than 7,200 pounds of marijuana and more than 200 pounds of methamphetamine.

At various port of entry stations, nearly 34,000 vehicles were identified as overweight and more than 2,000 were oversize.

A spokesperson says the patrol was down 35 troopers, 12 dispatchers and 13 port of entry officers, but everyone they had worked extra hours to get the job done and serve the public.
