Big Brothers Big Sister is looking for some video “shout outs” from the community to help celebrate 50 years of service to Sheridan’s children.
BBBS is asking members of the Wyoming communities, business leaders, politicians, athletes, police, fire fighters, social workers, former Littles and Bigs and everyone else to send a video message showing support for the organization via social media and comment hashtag #BiggerTogether. Sheridan BBBS will then create a video montage to culminate the celebration.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Director of Community Engagement in Sheridan, Cindi Williams told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse about the quick video shout outs.

It all started in 1904, when a court clerk in New York City named Ernest Coulter noticed more and more boys coming through his courtroom. Coulter recognized that caring adults could help many of these kids stay out of trouble, and he set out to find volunteers to mentor those children. That marked the beginning of the Big Brothers Big Sisters movement.
BBBS came to Wyoming in 1971, according to Williams. The organization had no way of funding itself and depended on the United Way for money. For the first two years in Wyoming, the BBBS program operated on $150 a year. Now, the organization operates in nine different counties in Wyoming.

The Sheridan BBBS currently work with 108 children, finding mentors and pairing them together to change lives.
Organizers are hoping to see the smiling faces of some of those lives in the video messages.
