The Johnson County Commission has lifted the county-wide hiring freeze to allow the hiring of an individual to work in the Lake DeSmet Operating Office.
According to discussions during their recent meeting, the current person managing the Lake DeSmet Operating Office has announced their pending retirement, and it was requested to allow them to fill the position and to change it from part-time to a full-time position.
County Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer explained that he is in need of an additional equipment operator and suggested the position could be split s between Lake DeSmet operations and equipment operator.
The commission voted to approve lifting the hiring freeze and to allow the position to be full-time.
