Pickleball Group Seeks Use of City Tennis Courts

February 22, 2022

The Cloud Peak Pickleball Association is looking to use the tennis courts at Washington Park for their games, in addition to their use for tennis, and came before the Buffalo City Council to ask for permission to do so.

Craig Plant, with the pickleballers, discussed why they were seeking to use the newer courts as opposed to the older ones they have been using near the Buffalo Children’s Center.

Plant said pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country for all ages, and having pristine courts to play on could lead to more out-of-towners using them, as well as the possibility of Buffalo hosting tournaments with hundreds of players here over a weekend.

Plant also said the pickleballers will put the additional lines on the courts and take over maintenance of them moving forward.

After discussions, the council voted to approve the group approaching the Rec Board for permission.
