Second Amendment Protection Act Advances in Wyoming Legislature

unanimously in the Senate Judiciary Committee Monday and moves to the Senate floor this week. According to the bill’s sponsor, State Senator for District 11 Larry Hicks, the bill upholds the second amendment and prevents Wyoming officials from enforcing federal mandates that infringe on Second Amendment rights. The measure was written in collaboration with Wyoming law enforcement officials and Gun Owners of America.

Hicks said the Second Amendment Protection Act builds on Wyoming’s strong Second Amendment legacy and arms Wyoming people and law enforcement with the ability to push back on the federal government’s attempts to infringe on Wyoming gun rights. The legislation would prohibit Wyoming state and local agencies from using state or local funds to enforce unconstitutional federal gun control measures that infringe or impede on the free exercise of the Second Amendment.
