During their short meeting Tuesday, the Johnson County Commission spent the majority of time discussing the agreement between the county and the Wyoming Behavioral Institute for Title 25 services provided to the county.
Title 25 Emergency detention is the legal process in which a person who is reasonably thought to be a danger to themselves, others, or who is unable to meet basic needs, as a result of mental illness is detained.
WBI in Casper provides detention services for Johnson County as well as others.
During discussions at their last meeting, County Attorney Tucker Ruby said there had been an increase in the cost for services in the new agreement, and
suggested to table signing the agreement until Tuesday’s meeting to give him a chance to review it and to look into options for the county.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Ruby said nothing had changed from the previous meeting, and he suggested the commission table the issue again to give him a chance to gather information from other county attorneys who are drafting a letter to the state.
Ruby said he and other county attorneys are concerned about continuing to pay into a system that needs fixed.
The commission tabled the agreement until the county attorney brings it before them again.
