March 20, 2022

A letter of support for the Sheridan County Land Trust was ratified by the county commission to secure funding for an additional trail on the Red Grade Trail System.

The trust is applying for funding from the Laura Jane Musser Foundation to assist in construction of an additional phase of the trail system.

The new trail will be three miles of what will be known as Buck Up, and is an equestrian/walker connection from the base of the parking lot to the Poverty Flats parking area, according to the letter.

The commission, in the letter of support, said, “the Red Grade Trail System advances goals of the county recognized by the Sheridan County Comprehensive Plan through planning and extending a regional non-motorized trails and pathway system, and planning and constructing a multi-use trail system. The SCLT has demonstrated the ability to build a successful trail system, and Sheridan County is confident in their trail development role.”
