The Johnson County Rural Health Care District Board was presented with the expected amount they will receive as their share of the tax settlement money that was recently agreed to by the county commission.
At the board’s meeting, Commission Chairman Bill Novotny, who was in attendance, was asked what the board could expect in settlement funds.
Novotny further explained that the funds are roughly 60 to 90 days out before the paperwork is completed in the bankruptcy court overseeing the settlement.
Out of the $125,000 monthly payments, the district can expect roughly $2,585 as the company pays off their 2017 outstanding tax bill.
As they begin to pay off their 2018 outstanding tax bill, the district’s monthly payment amount will increase to $3,719.
Novotny said the commission is encouraging the special districts to think of the funds as one-time money and to replentish reserves they may have used in recent years as the county has seen less revenue.
