At their regular meeting this month, the Johnson County Rural Health Care District Board approved an agreement that will split the current medical director’s duties and contract into two separate agreements with different directors for Buffalo and Kaycee.
The proposed agreement will have Dr. Mark Schueler continue as the medical director for Buffalo EMS and Dr. Luke Goddard to become the medical director for Kaycee Ambulance.
Board Chair Marilyn Connolly, in a separate interview, explained why the board considered making the change to two directors.
Connolly said for the Kaycee personnel to perform those tasks, they have to have a medical director that is willing to write protocols for that, which she said created an issue with Dr. Schueler.
According to Connolly, Dr. Schueler agreed to stay on as the Buffalo EMS medical director and relinquish the Kaycee duties to Dr. Goddard.
