A cooperative agreement between Johnson County and the US Forest Service/Bighorn National Forest for the sheriff’s office to provide law enforcement patrols on the forest was signed at the recent county commission meeting.
During the meeting, Sheriff Rod Odenbach said the agreement will pay the county $4,000 for wages and equipment, which he intends to use to purchase tires with the amount allocated for equipment.
According to information provided in previous years, the agreement will pay the county $4,000 for the extra law enforcement services, of which 75% can be used for wages and 25% can be used for equipment and supplies.
The county commission voted to approve the agreement with the US Forest Service.
