Johnson County Sets Salaries for Elected Officials

Johnson County’s Commissioners have passed a resolution setting the salaries for elected officials for the next four years.

County Attorney Tucker Ruby explained the process in the salary suggestions.

According to discussions, currently the county clerk, clerk of court, assessor, and treasurer’s salaries are at $80,000; the coroner at $30,000; the commissioners at $40,000; and the county attorney at $99,000.

Those salaries were set four years ago.

Ruby presented to the commission what the elected officials suggested for their salaries, which were $80,000 for the county clerk, clerk of court, assessor, and treasurer; $82,000 for the sheriff; $42,000 for the coroner; and $100,000 for the county attorney.

They made no suggestion about the commissioner’s salaries.

After further discussion, the commission voted to set the elected officials’ salaries for January 1, 2023 through Dec 31, 2026 as $84,000 for the assessor, county clerk, and clerk of court; $80,000 for the treasurer; $30,000 for the coroner and the commissioners; $86,000 for the sheriff; and $105,000 for the county attorney.
