Concept Z Home and Property annually sponsors a Big Brothers Big Sisters $1,000 scholarship recognizing a graduating senior who has been a Big Brother or Big Sister their senior year in high school. Some of the scholarship applicants were Bigs both their junior and senior year. This is the fifth annual scholarship award. We are proud to announce that this year’s Sheridan High School scholarship was awarded to Gennah Deutscher.

Bob Utter, scholarship originator and presenter stated: “We know that each of these high school Bigs have had a tremendous positive impact on their little brother or sister, but to be a Big undeniably has an impact on the mentor and that is what we are looking for in this scholarship. These young adults suddenly find themselves as a role model to an impressionable elementary school child that looks up to them as someone they would want to be like.”

According to Gennah in her award-winning essay: “My Little has taught me to relax and enjoy life each day. Not to worry about what I cannot control and appreciate every moment I am alive.

She was the only person that always greets me with a smile and hug every time we meet. I wonder who was the “Little” and who was the “Big”? My Little has turned me into a better person every moment I spent with her, and I could not be more grateful to that four foot nothing third grader who saved me.”

Gennah further stated that “My other activities have benefitted me in high school; Big Brothers Big Sisters will help me for life. “

Big Brothers Big Sisters is proud to have such a presence in the Sheridan High School and looks forward to many more years of partnership with Sheridan School District #2 and with Concept Z Home and Property. This year, Concept Z also selected a senior at Tongue River High School. That scholarship will be awarded later this week.

Gennah plans to attend the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota in the fall.
