While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan Police Department Captain Tom Ringley reported to listeners that the PD had to issue only two Driving Under the Influence citations over the Memorial Day Weekend.
Ringley also wished to thank the portion of the public the PD does not regularly have contact with who make the right decision when they have had a good time but find a safe way home.

Ringley also reported three arrests for public intoxication. The Captain was quick to remind the public that making the safe choice to walk home from an establishment after consuming alcohol is not illegal, but encouraged. It is only if the individual is so intoxicated they become a danger to themselves or a danger to the public that a citation may need to be issued.
TIPS is a training course utilized in all 50 states and regularly used by the SPD. TIPS offers skills-based training and tools for business needs that are designed to prevent intoxication from overserving, underage drinking, and drunk driving.
