Currently in the City of Sheridan, there are over 350 acres of parks and open space, 16.6 miles of pathways, 3,300 trees, a cemetery and a municipal golf course – all of which require professional management and planning. The City Council Monday night will consider an ordinance on first reading that establishes a new Department of Parks and amends chapter two of city code pertaining to the appointment and removal of certain officials. Prior to consideration of the ordinance on first reading, there will be a public hearing on the matter. There are in total, seven public hearings scheduled for Monday night’s Council meeting. The Council will also receive an update on this year’s community clean up and Trees for Trash events. The City Council will meet Monday at 7 pm in council chambers on the third floor of Sheridan City Hall.
