The Johnson County Rural Health Care District has been approved for a $450,000 grant through the State Loan and Investments Board (SLIB), according to discussions at the board’s meeting this week.
Board President Marilyn Connolly explained that the board had approved an individual to write grant applications for them, but they had declined.
She then stepped in and wrote the grant application to the SLIB.
According to Connolly, the state legislature did not fund the mineral royalty grant fund program for the next biennium, so these funds won’t be available to apply for for two years.
However, she said there is another grant available, from COVID-related ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds, which the district can use the mineral royalty grant funds as a match to receive the remainder of funding needed to get their proposed ambulance barn building project started.
