Man Arrested After Buffalo City Council Meeting

July 6, 2022

A man who attended Buffalo’s City Council meeting Tuesday night was arrested after the meeting in front of City Hall for his behavior and transported to the Criminal Justice Center to be processed.

A man who gave his name only as “Mr. Waits” spoke to the council during the Oral/Written Comment section of the agenda, saying he was upset because of the price of gasoline and the taxpayers paying for police officers driving on patrol, and alleging that officers were using city vehicles for personal use.

He asked the council why they were allowing this to happen and suggested they do something about it, getting more agitated the longer the discussion went on.

Finally, Mayor Shane Schrader spoke to Mr. Waits about him becoming agitated.

Waits became even more agitated when Police Chief Sean Bissett tried to talk to him.

The conversation moved outside with Schrader, Bissett and Waits involved in the discussion, which escalated to the point that Waits was finally arrested.

We will have information on the charges and more, once the information is available from the Buffalo Police Department.
