Sheridan Commission Accepts Prevention Grant Agreement

The Sheridan County Commission considered and then approved an agreement between the county and the Wyoming Department of Health, Public Health Division for county prevention programs.

Community Prevention Manager Ann Perkins talked with the commission about the various programs the Prevention Department has recently accomplished including Operation Parent handbooks that have been distributed to 3,500 students in the county’s three school districts.

Bullying, cyber safety, drinking, vaping and other topics are covered by the handbooks.

Also recently offered was Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for law enforcement, which teaches them how to deal with mental health components when responding to calls.

Perkins gave more information on the funding for Sheridan County.

Both the Operation Parent and CIT programs will be continued in the future.
