An ordinance setting the percentage of open space that is required for development in the City of Sheridan was approved on third and final reading by the City Council Monday night. An amendment to the ordinance lowering the open space requirement for R-3 from 17 percent to 10 percent was approved prior to third reading approval of the ordinance. Councilman Aaron Linden addressed the amendment to lower the percentage requirement.

The ordinance, as it was approved with the amendment, stipulates that there be an open space requirement of 8 percent for R-1, and 10 percent for R-2, R-3, and R-4 for development within the City of Sheridan.
