A Sheridan family is continuing to recover both at home and in Billings, after a teenage driver crashed into their vehicle causing a number of injuries.

It’s been almost one month since Kurt Layher, his wife Jessica and 2 children were involved in a 2-vehicle wreck in Billings, that was caused by a 15-year old driver that was speeding and had no insurance.

Jessica was in the driver’s seat at the time, and it was her side that got hit, thus she was injured more than anyone else.

She is in a rehab facility in Billings.

Kurt is back in Sheridan and is recovering from a broken leg.

He says he thanks the overwhelming community support that his family has received from the Sheridan people since they got home.

“We haven’t gone out to eat and we haven’t made a meal in the last month, since we got back. We get home cooked meals that people are doing that for us and everything. I can’t imagine getting through it without having this community and my family, my mother and my brother both live here in Sheridan, and having those people that support us and help us when we need it, I can’t imagine going through this, if we were on our own. It would almost be impossible.”

Kurt says the Billings Police Department has reopened the investigation and additional charges against the teen driver could be forthcoming.

He has also requested that anyone on social media stop making negative comments towards the teen driver that caused the wreck.

Other people have set up a gofundme account to help the Layher’s cover various costs.
