After the Johnson County Commission set their one-percent allocation at $200,000 earlier in the day, Buffalo’s City Council discussed and then voted to set their annual allocation to the One Percent Committee for their recommended distribution.

The Optional One Cent Sales Tax is collected on behalf of the city and county, with a portion of the funds earmarked for local organizations to apply for to help pay expenses or to make needed purchases.

During the council’s regular meeting Tuesday evening, Mayor Shane Schrader explained further.

The council voted to pass Resolution No. 1484, which sets the city’s contribution to the One-Percent Committee at $210,000.
