Potholes in Buffalo’s city streets will be a bigger concern this year than in recent years, according to City Works Director Les Hook, who spoke to the city council at their meeting this week.
Hook explained that the roadway on Erie Drive has only 2 inches of asphalt, and the ground underneath has become soft, causing the asphalt above to break up.
He believes the roadway will be a total loss.
He told the council he recommends reconstructing the street with concrete, as well as Delaware Drive.
City Building Inspector Terry Asay added that both streets are designated for reconstruction in the city’s Capital Improvements Plan, but weren’t yet scheduled.
He said with the failure of the roadway it may have to be moved up significantly.
