News – Sheridan Media

Johnson County’s Commissioners have approved and accepted an agreement with the US Forest Service/Bighorn National Forest to outline cooperation between agencies for flood protection and mitigation.

County Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connolly explained the agreement during the recent commission meeting.

Connolly said this is a no-cost agreement that will be in place for five years, and has extensive requirements by the Federal Government that need to be followed if approved by the county.

Connolly said the agreement should also be approved by the City of Buffalo due to possible flooding on Clear Creek, and she will schedule a discussion with them at an upcoming council meeting.

The commission approved the chairman to sign the agreement contingent upon review of the county attorney’s office.
