Curbing the pothole problem

News – Sheridan Media

Potholes have been a problem in many areas of Wyoming this spring and Sheridan is no different. The longer than average winter, above average snowfall and fluctuating temperatures created a perfect storm for pothole formations.

The start of the spring season brought melting snow during the day and frozen puddles at night. The City’s street crews were waiting as eagerly as residents for the opportunity to begin filling potholes throughout the city.

The City of Sheridan contracted with Wyoming Asphalt Repair LLC, based in Sheridan. Contracting with a private company is not the typical strategy of filling potholes by the City, but weather conditions produced an unusually high amount of damage to Sheridan’s streets.

According to the Sheridan Streets Department, the company has assisted crews to fill potholes throughout Sheridan over the previous few weeks and fulfilled the contract. City crews are now tackling the problem and will maintain the streets as potholes appear.
