A multi-sport athlete at Tongue River High School will continue to participate in one sport at the collegiate level.
Javin Walker has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to be on the track and field team at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Last year as a junior he was the 2A Boys state runner-up in the triple jump and the 300 meter hurdles events.
He also played football and basketball at TR.
Walker says he used the other 2 sports to condition for track and field, which is a sport that tends to be more competitive for him.

“I get a lot of enjoyment from competing. I’m really competitive and so track, with it being an individual style of sport, it’s really just you vs. everyone and I like that competitive aspect to it.”
He adds he is considering majoring in sports medicine.
