An arraignment hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court for a Sheridan man charged with multiple felonies. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Arraignment Hearing
In May of this year, 21-year-old Hunter Weiss was arrested and charged with two felonies, sexual assault in the first degree and strangulation of a household member. The alleged crimes occurred at a residence in Sheridan County on May 1, 2023. Weiss, at a hearing Tuesday in District Court, pleaded not guilty to both of the charges. District Court Judge Darci Phillips entered the not guilty pleas into the record and scheduled a three-day, #5 stack jury trial to begin Monday, October 16.
A pretrial conference will take place September 14 at 11 am. First degree sexual assault is punishable by not less than five years and not more than 50 years and a fine of up to $10,000. The strangulation charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
