Antelope Butte has announced the Antelope Butte Music & Art Summit, a reimagined festival and fundraiser, will take place August 25-27, 2023, at the Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area in the Bighorn Mountains. The festival aims to bring together music, art, mountain, and ski enthusiasts to support the non-profit ski area’s continued operation and make winter recreation accessible and affordable to all.

“The event will look very similar to the previous summer festivals at Antelope Butte,” said event coordinator Spencer Porden. “We took a look at the things that went right, and wrong, with our festival last year and have reimagined it. Instead of charging admission for the event, the Music & Art Summit will be open to everyone, free of charge. We will be asking for a suggested donation at the gate, but we will not turn anyone away if they cannot afford it. Our goal is to get people into the mountains to enjoy the ski area and all that it has to offer, and we believe that the people who love Antelope Butte will subsequently help us reach our fundraising goal.”

Porden said they are using the event as an opportunity to team up with some other organizations in the state, such as, The Wyoming Singer-Songwriter Competition who will be hosting a showcase of some of Wyoming’s musicians, and holding workshops for musicians on Friday. The Wyoming Arts Council has helped in ensuring the event is a success.

This year the festival is also hosting an art show and sale to be held inside of Antelope Butte’s newly-refurbished lodge.

“We have such amazing artists in the Bighorn Mountain region and we want to celebrate them.” Antelope Butte Foundation’s Secretary and Event Organizer Christa Branch said.

According to Branch, artists may submit one or two pieces for judging on the upper floors of the lodge. Awards will be presented for people’s choice, artist’s choice, foundation choice, and best in show. Downstairs, artists are being invited to have booths to sell their work. Artists are suggested to donate 25% of all sales, or what they are comfortable with to the foundation.

Camping at the event is encouraged and free of charge. Music will be held all three days of the festival, and the art show and sale will be Saturday and Sunday. Food and beverage vendors will be on-site all weekend.

“We expect this to be our best show yet,” Porden said. “We have a great lineup of local and regional acts and we are very excited to share their talents with the community.”

Families are welcome.
