Johnson County’s Commissioners have accepted and approved a Resolution authorizing County Road & Bridge to apply for 2024 Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) funding for dust mitigation on county roads.
Road & Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer explained to the commission that the grant application will ask for $337,428 and with the 20% local match of $84,357 the county’s amount for the project will be a total of $421,785.
That will treat 70 total miles of roads including 6 miles each of Dead Horse Road, Lower Sussex Road, and Schoonover Road; 12 miles each of Streeter Road and Upper Powder River Road; 7 miles each of TTT Road and Trabing Road; 5 miles of Reno Road; and 3 miles of TW Road.
That is a decrease from the previous year of about 28 total miles of roads to be treated in 2024.
